MoreCacao ceremonies
in Miami.
Every Sunday at 6pm, Modern ŌM hosts ceremonial cacao and a Twin Hearts loving-kindness meditation inside Faena Miami Beach. One warm cup, one hour, $33. Our longest-running weekly circle.
What ceremonial cacao actually is
Ceremonial cacao is unroasted, minimally processed cacao paste, sourced from farms that treat the bean as medicine. Warmed with water and a touch of spice, it becomes a gentle heart-opener: mildly stimulating, deeply grounding, and nothing like the hollow rush of caffeine. It has been used in circle for at least three thousand years across Central and South America.
What happens on a Sunday at Faena
You arrive by 5:45pm, take off your shoes, and pick a chair or cushion. Agustina welcomes you, holds a brief opening, and pours the cacao person by person. You sip in silence. Then she guides the Twin Hearts Meditation, a practice of loving-kindness that starts inside your own chest and expands, breath by breath, until it holds the whole room, the whole city, and the people you find hard to be around. You are back in the world by 7pm, warmer than you came.
Who this is for
Sunday-night types who want to arrive at Monday soft rather than braced. People processing grief. People in the first quiet weeks of a new love. Founders. Long-term practitioners. Complete beginners, most of all. The circle is deliberately gentle so that first-timers feel held and returning practitioners find room to deepen.
Practical notes for your first ceremony
Eat something small an hour or two before. Wear warm, comfortable layers. Bring a water bottle. Doors close at 6pm sharp, so arrive fifteen minutes early. Skip the ceremony if you take MAOIs or high-dose SSRIs, or if you have a serious heart condition. Pregnant participants are welcome at half a cup.
Venue, pricing, and other Miami ceremonies
The Sunday circle happens at Faena Hotel Miami Beach, 3201 Collins Avenue. Tickets are $33 per ceremony. Members through our ŌMie program at $49 a month attend included. We also host occasional cacao ceremonies at Tierra Santa spa, Soho House Miami, and the Miami Beach EDITION when the calendar allows. If Sunday does not work this week, the next date is always on the calendar page.
Facilitators
Our Sunday Cacao and Twin Hearts Meditation at Faena is $33. ŌMie members ($49/mo) attend this and every $49-and-under event at no additional cost.
Ceremonial cacao is pure, minimally processed cacao served warm as a heart-opening plant medicine. It is a gentle stimulant, not a psychedelic. Skip the ceremony if you take MAOIs or SSRIs at high dose, or if you have a serious heart condition.
Yes. The Sunday circle is designed for that. You will sit in a chair or on a cushion, receive a warm cup, and be gently guided through a Twin Hearts loving-kindness meditation. No chanting, no performance, no prior experience assumed.
Comfortable clothes you can sit still in for an hour. Warm layers help, the Faena rooms lean cool. Skip heavy perfume, since the room is close.
Valet at Faena is straightforward. There is also a municipal lot one block north. Doors close at 6pm sharp, so give yourself fifteen minutes.
